Ghandruk

The accessibility of motor vehicles to Ghandruk makes the tour possible even for travelers with lower physical endurance. However, a four-hour trek across the rhododendron forest is also a viable option.

Located at an altitude of 2012 meters above sea level, the Gurung village rests on the laps of Annapurna. Alongside the picturesque view of the mountain range, the cultural display of the region makes the tour even more memorable to the visitors. And, if you quite don’t get enough of the quick village stroll, a longer trek is also available. This trek takes you through numerous pit stops, each flaunting unique traits.

Landruk, located at the midpoint of Ghandruk, is a travel destination that’s recently come under the global radar due to the unique honey harvesting method the residents practice. The honey hunters of the region scoop out roofs of honeycombs infested with wild bees from cliffs. These honey gatherers set out annually to collect the harvest. Shutterbugs from all over meet at Landruk to document the age-old practice.

Eric Valli’s National Geographic cover “The Honey Hunters of Nepal” is based on the ancient practice that has been handed down from one generation to another.
